TERRA AUSTRALIS INCOGNITA in Istanbul
From 12 to 13 April 2017 in the Istanbul Technical University (ITU), jointly with the Center for Polar Research of Turkey (PolReC) held a seminar on polar sciences.
During the seminar was presented the exhibition on Antarctic maps TERRA AUSTRALIS INCOGNITA (The Unknown southern land) by the invitation of Prof. Dr. Burcu Yozsoy, Director of PolReC.
#TERRAAUSTRALISINCOGNITA is a project of the program ECOANTAR of the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute (BAI)
At the official ceremony, the project coordinator Gergana Lapteva and Mariana Simeonova (BAI) handed a plaque on behalf from Prof. DSc Christo Pimpirev to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Burcu Ozsoy on the occasion of cooperation between Bulgaria and Turkey in Antarctica. In the past polar season two Turkish scientists worked in the Bulgarian base "St. Kl. Ohridski "on Livingston Island.
In an exclusive interview for Bulgarian National TV (BNT) Assoc. Prof. Dr. Burcu Ozsoy told about the results from the First Turkish Antarctic Expedition, research on the Icy continent and the impending construction of polar base of Turkey in Antarctica.
