ECOANTAR a cultural program aimed through art in its various forms to address the need and responsibility to care for Antarctic heritage and environment of our planet.
Art in the broadest sense represents ability to submit certain information to the viewer or listener through a form of esthetic perception and reproduction of the world through subjective knowledge and impressions of the artist. It is also a form of social consciousness and an integral part of the culture of humanity.
Environmental art or "Eco Art" is a contemporary art form aimed at the works in harmony with the environment. It was created by artists who are concerned about local and global environmental situations, believing that the restoration of man's relationship with nature is one of the priorities of modern society.
Eco-art involves collaboration between artists and scientists. It is expressed most often in the form of installations, sculptures sustainable landscape design, drawings, musical and literary works and others. All have a direct relationship with the environment and commonly used materials are natural and organic. The works are rich in visual expression and display the one hand, concern for environmental issues, on the other inspiration for new ways of interaction between people and nature. Recently, eco-art is gaining momentum and is more eco-art festivals, residences and workshops, where people can create and convey messages to the world.
The aim of the program ECOANTAR is to combine esthetic possibilities of contemporary art with current issues concerning the environment and the impact of human factors on the planet and in particular in Antarctica. This is the continent that is considered "the kitchen of time" and still less affected by human influence. Antarctica is the cleanest continent on the planet with unique flora and fauna and is much protected with attention and action. Creation of artistic research (art) project involving research and development in various disciplines and combining art and science. Giving more access to Antarctica to people who are not able to reach to the continent and connection through art with them. With the presentation of exhibitions and artistic performances, workshops and create art installations, deepen relationships between the arts and sciences, by promoting interaction between people working in different disciplines and areas.
Purpose is the development of national ideology, aimed at strengthening the responsibility for our heritage - the environment.
Through these artistic expressions we hope the issue of conservation of the White Continent to reach more people and every one of us to think about what could help to preserve the unique ecosystems in Antarctica.
